St. Charles North Soccer Standout Breaks Valparaiso Record

Kristen Manski has her 21st career shutout, breaking the team’s record. She is one shutout short of tying the school’s one-season record.

Valparaiso junior goalkeeper Kristen Manski of St. Charles, a St. Charles North graduate, registered her 21st career shutout on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, during a scoreless draw against Loyola. The clean sheet gave Manski enough to break the program's shutout record, which previously was shared by Mele Cabral and Erin Murray. Manski had three saves in 110 minutes of play. Manski also has nine shutouts this season, one shy of Valpo's single-season record. The former Eclipse Select Soccer Club goalkeeper tied Valparaiso’s record Oct. 14 during the team's scoreless draw against Wright State. St. Charles’ Manski Posts Soccer Milestones

North High grad notches career-high 13 saves and ties Valparaiso’s shutout record as she closes in on team’s overall and single-season bests. East grad Ketterling scores No. 2 for the season.

Former Eclipse Select Soccer Club goalkeeper Kristen Manski added two milestones at Valparaiso, the club announced in a release this week. The St. Charles resident and St. Charles North High School grad had a career-high 13 saves and posted her 20th career clean sheet to tie a Valparaiso record Sunday night during the team's scoreless draw against Wright State, the club announced. Manski's 20 shutouts tie Mele Cabral and Erin Murray for the most in the Crusader program's history, according to the club. With eight shutouts this season, Manski is just two short of the team’s record for one season. Celebrate Columbus Day in St. Charles

Columbus Day is on Monday, Oct. 8, this year.

Columbus Day, a nationally recognized federal holiday, falls on Monday, Oct. 8 this year. While it is an opportunity for some to sleep in on a Monday, the holiday itself is also interesting, and a great time to celebrate and shop. Columbus Day remembers Italian explorer Christopher Columbus’ long journey across the Atlantic Ocean to the “New World." The voyage was victorious when land was first spotted on Oct. 12, 1492. Coming off a three-day festival, St. Charles municipal government offices were expected to be closed on Monday, and no classes were planning in Community Unit School District 303. St. Charles Police Blotter: DUI; Suspicious Incident

St. Charles police reports from Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, through Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012.

TUESDAY, OCT. 2, 2012 Luis Moyotl-Aguilar, 28, of the 200 block of South 17th Street, was arrested at 3:59 a.m. at the Aurora Police Department, where he was being held on two St. Charles warrants for failure to appear in court. He was unable to post $1,500 bond and was transported to the Kane County Jail to await an appearance in court. Rebecca S. Small, 47, of the 2900 block of Majestic Oaks Drive, reported at 4:37 p.m. the theft of a wallet containing $80, her driver’s license and various cards. Small told police she believed she inadvertantly left the wallet behind while checking out a book for her son at the library. The library reported that no one had turned in a wallet.
