St. Charles Police Blotter: Burglary, Property Damage, Fraud

St. Charles police reports from Saturday, April 13, 2013, through Monday, April 15, 2013.

MONDAY, APRIL 15, 2013 A resident of the 900 block of Millington Way reported at 6:20 a.m. that he found some shoes, a prescription bottle containing coins and two DVD players beneath a tree. He found the items when he went out to walk his dog. Police determined the items belonged to a neighbor whom they contacted, and he said he had awakened to find his inside garage door open and lights on in two rooms. Some of the items had been taken from inside the resident’s unlocked vehicle. Police also learned a second vehicle had been entered and items were removed from a purse. As police continued their investigation, they determined the burglar(s) had entered the home, as well, and removed a LCD television valued at $350, and a $400 Apple iPad. …

SUNDAY, APRIL 14, 2013 Jason A. Gatewood, 38, of the 300 block of Michigan Avenue, Aurora, was cited at 5:47 p.m. at 48 N. 12th St., with disorderly conduct. Police received a report from that address that Gatewood was intoxicated and destroying property at a neighboring home. He was issued a notice to appear in court on June 20, 2013. Emma Urbina-Perez, 34, of the 800 block of Burr Oaks Drive, West Chicago, was charged at 3:34 p.m. at Walmart, 150 Smith Road, with retail theft. Further details were not available. She posted $150 cash bond and was released pending a May 16, 2013 court appearance. Kelsey D. Hahn, 20, of the 1700 block of Cumberland Drive, was cited at 2:31 a.m. at his home with underage possession or consumption of alcohol…

Dunn, 46, of the 300 block of South 5th Avenue, was charged at 9:29 a.m. at his home with possession of less than 2.5 grams of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia. SUNDAY, APRIL 7, 2013 Stephanie L. Bruckner, 34, of the 34W600 block of Elm Court, was charged at 4:11 p.m. at Meijer, 855 S. Randall Road, with retail theft. According to police, Bruckner took miscellaneous grocery items including a magazine, paper towels, bath tissue, dog food and other items with a combined value of $111.07 that she did not pay for before leaving the store. She was released with a notice to appear in court May 2, 2013. Joseph M. Montes, 22, of the 1400 block of Exeter Lane, South Elgin, was cited at 1:06 a.m. on the 1000 block of North 2nd Street (Route 31) with disorderly conduct-public drunkenness. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 3, 2013 Sasha I. Juarez, 21m of the 1800 block of Wessel Court, was arrested at 1:11 a.m. at her home on a 2008 St. Charles warrant on a theft charge. She posted $250 cash bond and was released pending a court appearance. Katie Lyn Chiet, 39, of the 1000 block of Dean Street, was charged at 12:39 a.m. in the 300 block of South 7th Street with driving under the influence of alcohol and resisting/obstructing a peace officer. According to police, the officer found Chiet’s vehicle parked in a no-parking area. As the officer approached the car, he found vomit on the pavement by the driver’s door and Chiet slumped over in the driver’s seat. She also was charged with disobeying a stop sign, no driver’s license and no insurance. She posted $330 cash bond and was released pending an April 18, 2013 court appearance. Cody T. Dieter, 22, of the 2000 block of Normandy Lane, Geneva, was charged at 1:53 p.m. in the 500 block of Walnut Avenue with leaving the scene of a vehicle-damage accident, and improper lane use. TUESDAY, MARCH 26, 2013 Police were called at 10:21 a.m. to 13th and Rita avenues on a report of graffiti to a fence at the northeast corner of the intersection. According to the report, someone had spray-painted a black swastika about 6 inches in size on the fence. A St. Charles police officer reported at 11:24 a.m. discovering someone using black spray paint had defaced a “No Parking” sign on the 800 block of Munhall Avenue and spray-painted a swastika onto a road weight limit sign at Munhall and Andover avenues. Further investigation revealed another swastika painted on a stop sign at South Tyler Road and Independence Avenue. Family Feud? St. Charles Man Cited After Minor Gets Booze

Man was reported to police by a family member whose son had been supplied with an alcoholic beverage.

A St. Charles man found himself in hot water at home and with police last week after he supplied alcohol to an underage family member, whose parent then reported the man to police. Nicholas J. Juliano, 45, of the 200 block of Grand Ridge Road, was cited at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the St. Charles Police Department, 211 N. Riverside Ave., with social hosting/providing alcohol to a minor. He was issued a notice to appear in court. According to police, Juliano was approached by an underage family member who wanted alcohol to take to a party in DeKalb County. Police said he obliged. TUESDAY, MARCH 19, 2013 An 18-year-old resident of the 900 block of Manley Road reported at 8:13 p.m. that he had posted a listing on Craigslist to sell his drums for $800. He exchanged emails with an interested party who agreed to the price and advised a check for $2,950 had been sent to him. He was instructed to deposit the check and wire back the balance via MoneyGram. At that point, the man said he became suspicious of the transaction and did not respond to the last email, but the check arrived with a FedEx label on the day he went to police. The check was sent from an address in Boulder, Colo., the check was drawn on a legitimate account in Lewistown, Mont., and the FedEx shipping label was for an address in Charlotte, N.C. He did not…
