St. Charles Firefighters Douse Fire at Manufacturing Site

Employees reported the structure fire at 315 S. Kirk Road. None were injured.

Firefighters from St. Charles and four other departments were able to knock down a commercial fire in a building along Kirk Road on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 3, 2013, limiting damage to the building to just $5,000. The St. Charles Fire Department arrived at 12:36 p.m. at Pactiv Corporation, 315 S. Kirk Road, where firefighters found flames showing near bar joists supporting the roof in the manufacturing area. In a release issued late Thursday afternoon, acting Fire Chief Joe Schelstreet said the fire was reported at 12:34 p.m. by employees working in the area who observed a fire of about 10 by 15 feet and spreading. UPDATE: Fire Department Douses Early Wednesday Fire at State Bank of Geneva

An early morning box-alarm fire at the State Bank of Geneva, 22 S. Fourth St., starts in a northwest corner office on the first floor, causing extensive damage.

A box-alarm fire struck the State Bank of Geneva, 22 S. Fourth St., a little after 3 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, causing extensive damage and bringing fire departments from throughout the area to the scene. The structure fire officially was labeled a "box alarm" at around 3:34 a.m. The fire was out well before 8 a.m., when the Wheeling Fire Department pulled in with heavy fans to clear air from the basement, sources on the scene said. No adjacent structures were threatened, no one was inside the bank at the time of the fire and there were no injuries to fire personnel on the scene, according to a press release from the Geneva Fire Department. Fire Chief Steve Olson said the fire started in a northwest corner bank office on the first floor. …
