New Principals, Football Coach Coming to St. Charles

Board of Education approves personnel report naming new principals, new North High head football coach.

Several schools will be getting new principals in the coming school year. The personnel report the St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 Board of Education approved on Monday night lists new hires, as well as staff resignations, retirements and terminations. The report shows that Pamela Jensen has been hired as principal at Haines Middle School. Jensen received her bachelor’s degree in education from Illinois State University in Normal, and her master’s in education from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. Her past experience includes 13 years in Oswego School District 308, where she worked five years as a junior high school principal and eight years as an assistant principal. ‘No Credible Threat’ at Two St. Charles Schools

Superintendent reassures parents, staff by email.

St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 said Thursday that rumors of threats to Thompson Middle School and St. Charles East High School on Thursday were unfounded, the Kane County Chronicle reports. Superintendent Donald Schlomann, in an email to parents and teachers, said “no credible threat exists,” and explained that the district worked with the St. Charles Police Department to make that determination, according to the the Kane County Chronicle report. The rumors come nearly a week after a gunman forced his way into Sandy Hook School in Newtown, Conn., and shot to death 20 children and six adults before taking his own life. Wednesday Morning Fire at Thompson Middle School Causes $100,000 in Damage

No one was injured. District officials say the blaze damaged the building and computer equipment.

A fire inside Thompson Middle School early Wednesday morning caused more than $100,000 in damage to the building and computer equipment. A cart containing about 15 recharging laptop computers caught fire at around 3 a.m. while being stored in a room next to the school’s Learning Resource Center, district officials said Wednesday. St. Charles firefighters responded to the fire alarm and extinguished the blaze. No students were in the school at the time and no one was injured. Smoke and fire damaged computer equipment, ceiling tiles and other parts of the building, said district Superintendent Don Schlomann. Cleaning will take place through the weekend.
