St. Charles Police Call for Assistance Ends in Arrest
Officers called to assist local man with frozen door locks learn he’s wanted on a DuPage County warrant for contempt of court.
It’s not that the St. Charles police officers gave a cold shoulder to the guy who had called for help with the frozen locks on his car doors. They did try to help. But when they learned he was wanted ... well, part of their job is to arrest people, after all. It all started in the wee hours of Thursday, Jan. 31, heading into a very cold day that later would prompt the National Weather Service to issue a wind chill advisory. Steven J. Michalak, 42, of the 5N200 block of Hanson Road, called police at 12:24 a.m. to request assistance. He was at XSport Fitness, 238 N. Randall Road, and the locks to his car doors had frozen.
