Police Name Driver in Fatal Car vs. Truck Crash on Route 38

Here is her identity and how the crash happened.

Police Tuesday afternoon identified the driver who died at the scene of a car vs. truck crash west of Elburn. The driver is 78-year-old Lorella Huff, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office. Huff was driving a 1995 Toyota Camry north on Francis Road. For reasons unknown, she did not stop at the stop sign for Route 38, the Sheriff's Office said. Sheriff's deputies responded to the crash at about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday. Huff's car entered the intersection and struck a 2012 Hino box truck heading west on Route 38. Traffic on Route 38 does not have a stop sign. The driver of the truck, a 36-year-old man from Roselle, was uninjured. Huff was pronounced dead at the crash scene. Route 38 was closed for about 3.5 hours while police responded to the crash.

Update: Route 38 was open again to traffic at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police released the name of the driver who died in the crash. A fatal crash late Tuesday morning shut down Route 38 in the Elburn area, police said. Route 38 was blocked between Route 47 and Meredith Road, and was closed for several hours, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office. A Patch staffer near the scene said motorists accessed Route 47 for a detour. The crash occurred on Route 38 and Francis Road, about 2.3 miles west of Routes 38 and 47. Some of the scanner reports for the crash came in at 11:51 a.m. A car and semi-tractor trailer were involved in the accident, according to scanner reports. One person is dead and another was sent to the hospital. Here are the initial details.

Update: Police Monday afternoon identified the driver who died at the scene of the crash. A fatal crash occurred Monday morning on Route 25 south of Batavia, police confirmed. The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash, which happened at about 9 a.m. Jan. 7 on Route 25 near Banbury Road in unincorporated Batavia. This is south of Funway and Bond Drive in Batavia and north of the Fox Valley Country Club. "One person was transported to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries, and there is one confirmed fatality," the Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Police Name Batavia Driver in Fatal Crash Wednesday

The 43-year-old was dead at the scene. Here is her identity and how the crash happened.

Police Thursday afternoon identified the Batavia woman who died at the scene of a head-on collision on Randall Road. The woman is 43-year-old Amy P. Holtorf, according to Batavia police. Holtorf was traveling northbound on Randall Road just south of Mill Creek when her 2005 Honda Odyssey minivan crossed the center lane and struck a 2012 Nissan Rogue traveling southbound, a police statement said. The crash occurred at 11:52 p.m. Wednesday. An occupant of the Nissan crossover SUV was flown by helicopter to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove in serious to critical condition. Update: Police Thursday afternoon identified the Batavia woman who died at the scene of the crash. A Batavia woman died in a two-car crash on Randall Road Wednesday night, according to police. An Aurora couple was also injured in the crash, which occurred at 11:52 p.m. Wednesday. The husband driver was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove in critical condition, said Gary Schira, Batavia police chief. The wife was treated, released and was believed to be at her husband's side Thursday morning, Schira said. He did not have a current condition report for the man. A 17-year-old Elgin teen is dead after a one-car crash this weekend in northwest Kane County, police said. Lawrence Echols was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash west of the town of Burlington early Sunday, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene at 12:50 a.m. Echols was riding in the back seat of a 2007 Lincoln MKZ sedan. Echols and another backseat passenger, Shadontre Smith of South Elgin, had to be extricated from the vehicle. The sedan was traveling west on Plank Road between Engel and West County Line roads at what appeared to be a high rate of speed, the Sheriff's Office said.
