Driver Charged With Aggravated DUI After Route 25 Crash, Passenger Critical

A 35-year-old man faces aggravated DUI and reckless driving charges in connection to Sunday's serious car crash on Route 25, police said. Victor M. Alvarez, of the 1400 block of Golden Oaks Parkway, Aurora, was driving northbound in a silver Nissan Murano crossover sport-utility vehicle that ran off the west side of the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to a North Aurora police statement. Police responded at 2:11 p.m. Sunday to the crash scene, located about 100 ft. north of Ridge Road. Upon arrival, officers found the Murano with heavy passenger side damage. "A passenger in Alvarez’s vehicle, a 39-year-old male of West Chicago, was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove," the statement said. "He was in critical …

Man Airlifted After Route 25 Crash Sunday Afternoon

The vehicle went about 60 feet off the road, according to officials. Here's what happened.

One man was airlifted to a hospital after a one-car crash Sunday afternoon on Route 25 south of Batavia, fire officials said. The crash occurred at the Red Oak Nature Center entrance on the 2300 block of South River Road (Route 25). Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at about 2:50 p.m., said North Aurora Fire Capt. Mike Klemencic. The man was taken by helicopter to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. His condition and identity were not immediately available. A midsize or crossover sport utility-type vehicle was northbound on Route 25 when it struck a pole on the passenger side, Klemencic said. Services Set for St. Charles Man Killed in Batavia Crash

A celebration of Karl Smith's life will be held at Moss Family Funeral Home in Batavia.

A visitation has been scheduled for the man who died in Monday's car crash on Route 25 near Batavia. A celebration of life for Karl K. Smith, of St. Charles, will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. (Route 31), Batavia. Visitation and celebration will be held from 8:30 a.m. until noon at the home. After the visitation, a reception will be held at the Batavia Moose Lodge, 1535 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia. Private interment will be held at River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia. Smith, 45, died after his sport-utility vehicle spun out of control while driving on Route 25 Monday morning in unincorporated Batavia. Driver Killed in Route 25 Crash Was St. Charles Man

Police this afternoon identified the driver who died at the scene of a two-car crash this morning on Route 25 near Batavia. The driver is 45-year-old Karl Smith of St. Charles, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office. Smith was driving a sport-utility vehicle on Route 25 along a curve when he spun out of control, crossing into opposite traffic, the Sheriff's Office said. Sheriff's deputies responded to the crash north of the Banbury Road intersection at about 9 a.m. The SUV struck a Honda Accord that was traveling south on Route 25. The driver of the Accord, a 60-year-old woman from Batavia, was transported to Delnor Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Update: Police Monday afternoon identified the driver who died at the scene of the crash. A fatal crash occurred Monday morning on Route 25 south of Batavia, police confirmed. The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash, which happened at about 9 a.m. Jan. 7 on Route 25 near Banbury Road in unincorporated Batavia. This is south of Funway and Bond Drive in Batavia and north of the Fox Valley Country Club.
