ReplyPolice watched an intoxicated Man stagger and stumble around the Downtown area allowing him to try and gain entry to four Bars before stopping him? Were they unsure? Would the Bars inquestion be held accountable if this Man did gain entry?

ReplyThe owner of the Bar was obviously frustrated that the officers arrived seconds after the person was served. A calm owner might have caught a break. But zero tolerance seems to be the law of the land by the police here. Serve the guy a drink...get a citation for over serving. Serve the guy water ...get a citation for harboring an intoxicated person. Refuse him entry and let him stumble around down town St. Charles... That's ok.

matthew i agree...let him in and serve him a citation for serving an intoxicated person. let him in and serve him water a citation for harboring an intoxicated person. don't let him in and let him walk the streets drunk....no liability here. there was a story in the patch where a bar was reported because a person had 2 receipts on him from earlier that night when he was picked up after hours for disorderly conduct. when is the individual responsible for there own actions?

ReplyThis could have happened to any Bar on any given weekend. The Bars in St. Charles to a good job holding patrons accountable.

ReplyI also wonder why no citation was issued to Chilies for overserving or allowing an intoxicated customer to remain it the bar area to sleep. Would any bar in Downtown St. Charles get that kind of break?
