Concert for a Cure Finds New Home in St. Charles

The annual concert is moving indoors to the Arcada Theatre in downtown St. Charles.

The Arcada Theatre in downtown St. Charles will host the seventh annual Concert for a Cure, which is changing its format and location, the Kane County Chronicle reports.

Ron Onesti, owner of the Arcada, 105 W. Main St., and the Paul Ruby Foundation for Parkinson’s Research are collaborating on a concert that would be held at 8 p.m. Aug. 2, according to the Chronicle. The concern would feature the Steve Augeri Band with special guest Noah’s Arcade, at the concert.

Auger is the former lead singer for the band Journey.

Proceeds from concert ticket sales would go toward research on Parkinson’s disease through the Paul Ruby Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, which since 2007 has raised more than $500,000 to help find a cure for Parkinon’s disease. Organizers hope to raise $100,000 from the concert, which in past years had been held at Tanna Farms Golf Course in Blackberry Township.

Accordng to the Mayo Clinic, Parkinson’s disease is a progressive, or degenerative nervous system disorder that affects causes stiffness and affects movement. One of the more well-known symptoms of the disease is tremors. The disease afflicts more than 1.5 milllion people in the United States, according to the foundation.
