Car Keyed after St. Charles Man Complains of Dog Bite

A couple taking a stroll is accosted by one of five dogs, one of which bites the man. He complains to an unsympathetic owner and later finds his car has been keyed.

A St. Charles couple’s stroll in the park included an encounter with five unleashed dogs and an owner who showed no sympathy when the man complained about being bitten by one of the dogs. When the couple returned to their parked car, they found it had been keyed.

The incident unfolded Saturday morning, June June 22, 2013, when the couple was taking a stroll on the pedestrian trail near the dog park at Kane County Fox River Bluff West Forest Preserve, north of the Red Gate Bridge.

The couple, who are St. Charles residents, reported the incident at 1:09 p.m. They said that while walking on the pedestrian trail, they encountered a man and woman walking with five unleashed dogs, all but one of which appeared friendly. That dog tried to jump on and then bite the woman, and then turned and bit her husband’s hand. The bite did not break the skin, but the man complained to police that the other couple made no attempt to control or leash their animals.

According to police, the man who was bitten complained to the other woman that she needs to control her dogs and have them on the leash. But the woman with the dogs told the man that if he had no dogs, they should not come to the dog park.

The police report noted that the pedestrian trail is not in the dog park area of the preserve.

The two couples then parted ways, with the bite victim and his wife finishing their stroll before returning to the parking lot at the dog park, where they discovered someone had used a key to makes scratches all over their vehicle.

The man told police that when he and his wife arrived, there were only two other vehicles in the lot, and they believe the woman with the dogs returned to the lot and keyed their vehicle. No other vehicles were in the lot when they returned from their stroll and discovered the damage.

The woman with the dogs was described as being in her mid- to late 40s, reddish-auburn hair, wearing a tank top and walking with five mixed-breed dogs that were of medium size.

The man who was walking with her was described as being in his mid- to late 60s, with white hair and a white mustache.
