Geneva Man Gets Lesson on St. Charles School Speed Zone
Police clocked him at 50 mph in a 20 mph school zone. Without a license, he also had his vehicle impounded.
Perhaps those who have children heading back to school already have a reminder that traffic patterns are changing as kids return to class.
But police say a Geneva man was well above the regular 35 mph speed limit on Dunham Road when a radar-wielding officer clocked him at 50 mph about 8:12 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, the first day of school in St. Charles Community Unit School District 303.
School zone speed limits generally are 20 mph.

Police pulled over Francisco Javiar Ortiz, 21, of the 700 block of State Street, Geneva, near the entrance to St. Charles East High School — about the 1000 block of Dunham Road, according to the report. He was cited with speeding, and with no driver’s license.
The latter charge sparked his arrest and the confiscation of his vehicle. He posted $150 cash bond and a $50 booking fee before his release pending a Sept. 19, 2013 court appearance.

He also faces the towing and vehicle storage fees.
