St. Charles Police Blotter: DUIs, Thefts, Old Car Stolen

SUNDAY, JULY 7, 2013

Disorderly Conduct


Douglas William Komes, 55, homeless, was charged at 3:52 p.m. on the 100 block of South 1st Street with three counts of disorderly conduct. He was transported to the Kane County Jail pending a court appearance.

Retail Theft


Karen Leann Wright, 36, of the 17800 block of Route 38, was charged at 2:38 p.m. at Meijer, 855 S. Randall Road, with retail theft after leaving the store without paying for six grocery items and one cosmetic item. The combined value was $49.22. She was released on her own recognizance pending an Aug. 8, 2013 court appearance.

Public Drunkenness


Joseph M. Montes, 23, of the 1400 block of Exeter Lane, South Elgin, was cited at 12:55 a.m. at North 2nd and Cedar streets with disorderly conduct-public drunkenness after police found him passed out on a bench in a parking lot on North 2nd Street. After he was cited, paramedics transported him to Delnor Hospital for treatment.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol


James J. Slobodnik Jr., 23, of the 1200 block of Churchill Road, Bartlett, was charged at 12:19 a.m. on the 1200 block of East Main Street with driving under the influence of alcohol, and speeding, 48 in a 30 mph zone. He posted his driver’s license and $300 cash bond and was released pending an Aug. 7, 2013 court appearance.

Retail Theft


Zenaida Tecuapetla, 43, of the 500 block of Carriage Drive, Batavia, was charged at 7:19 p.m. Von Maur, 3810 E. Main St., after the store reported she left the store without paying for $110 in clothing. She later was released pending a court appearance.

Warrant Arrest


William J. Taber, 42, homeless, was arrested at 8:55 a.m. at the St. Charles Police Department, 211 N. Riverside Drive, on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a disorderly conduct charge. He posted an unspecified bond and was released pending a court appearance.

Drug, Traffic Charges


Anthony Lawrence Parise, 19, of the 1500 block of Rita Avenue, was charged at 1:54 a.m. on the 2300 block of East Main Street with speeding, 48 in a 35 mph zone; no driver’s license; and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on his own recognizance.

DUI


Michael Jared Conlee, 36, of the 500 block of Edison Street, Geneva, was charged at 1:01 a.m. at North 3rd and State streets with DUI, and driving without lights.He posted his driver’s license and $100 cash bond and $50 booking fee and was released pending a court appearance.

FRIDAY, JULY 5, 2013

DUI


Yaqar D. hawkins, 33, of the 5900 block of West Washington Boulevard, Chicago, was charged at 12:59 a.m. on the 2700 block of East Main Street with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use, and no insurance. She posted her driver’s license and was released on her own recognizance pending an Aug. 1, 2013 court appearance.

Theft, Less than $500


A 43-year-old resident reported at 3:20 p.m. the theft of two black bags, each containing 75 pounds of empty soda cans that he intended to cash in for recycling. The bags had been behind his business in the 200 block of West Main Street.

Leaving Accident Scene, Warrant Arrest


Adolfo Hernandez Hernandez-Lara, 28, of the 2000 block of Oak Street, was charged at 10:54 p.m. on the 100 block of South 13th Street, with leaving the scene of an accident and no valid driver’s license. He also was arrested on two Kane County warrants for battery to a peace officer and driving without a license. Police said Lara fled from an accident on the 100 block of South 13th Street. He was unable to post bond and was behind held in the kane County Jail pending a court appearance.


THURSDAY, JULY 4, 2013

Vehicle Burglary and Theft


A 40-year-old resident of the 1600 block of Oak Street reported at 9:34 a.m. that someone stole his 1994 Honda Accord, with more than 278,000 on it, from the street outside his home while it was parked there overnight. While police were speaking with the owner, a second report came in about a parked car blocking a driveway on the 00-99 block of North 17th Street. It was the victim’s missing car. The victim told police a stereo faceplate was missing.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 3, 2013

Driving Under the Influence of Drugs


Carrie R. Ketchum, 35, of the 3400 block of Oak Park Avenue, Berwyn, was charged at 11:26 p.m. on the 3800 block of East Main Street with driving under the influence of drugs, fleeing and eluding police, speeding-50 mph in a 30 mph zone, and two counts of disobeying a traffic control device. Police said they saw Ketchum driving erratically on Main Street, first driving at speeds that were 10 to 15 mph below the speed limit, speeding up, then slowing again, including running a red light at East Main and 5th Avenue. She did not stop when police activated their emergency lights and sirens. She sped up to 50 mph and ran a red light at Dunham Road, according to police, who said they were able to stop her as she turned into an entrance to Charlestowne Mall. Ketchum later was transported to Delnor Hospital in Geneva for evaluation. She posted her driver’s license and was released on her own recognizance pending a court appearance.

DUI-Alcohol


Thomas Gardner, 68, of the 00-99 block of Osage Drive, Franklin, Ill., was charged at 11:08 p.m. on the 200 block of South 2nd Street, with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol concentration greater than .08, and driving without lights when required. Police said his blood-alcohol concentration was .181. He posted his driver’s license and was released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.

Disorderly Conduct


Susan E. Farbaky, 20, of the 100 block of St. Germaine Place, was charged at 9:34 a.m. at the St. Charles Police Department, 211 N. Riverside Drive, with disorderly conduct-filing a false police report. Further details were unavailable. She posted $500 cash bond and was released pending an Aug. 7, 2013 court appearance.

MONDAY, JULY 1, 2013

Warrant Arrest


Daniel Carrera, 31, of the 500 block of West Main Street, was arrested at 11:15 a.m. on the 1700 block of West Main Street on an unspecified warrant and was charged with no driver’s license. He posted $150 cash bond and was released pending an unspecified court appearance.

Criminal Trespass


Kathryn M. Selpien, 53, homeless, was charged at 9 p.m. on the 200 block of South 2nd Street, with criminal trespass. She posted $150 cash bond and was released pending an Aug. 1, 2013 court appearance.
