Police said his blood-alcohol concentration measured .157, nearly twice the legal limit. According to the report, an officer saw Meagher’s vehicle weaving in traffic, which led to a traffic stop. Meagher told police he had been drinking at a downtown St. Charles bar. He was transported to the Kane County Jail pending a court appearance.

Residential Burglary

A Realtor reported to police at 7:46 p.m. that someone had used an unlocked door to enter a residence on the 900 block of South 2nd Street, where an undetermined quantity of copper pipe in the basement was damaged and stolen. The theft occurred between July 10, 2013 and Thursday, when it was reported. The report stated much of copper pipe appeared to have been cut in some instances but also was bent and broken off in many others. Some of the pipe was left on the basement floor, the report states. There was no damage estimate reported.

Scooby, Don’t: Dog Nips Boy

A 9-year-old boy was treated at Delnor Hospital’s emergency room where his mother took him after a dog bit her son. The woman told police at 7:40 p.m. that earlier, another woman was walking her dog near their residence when it broke free of its leash, ran to the boy and nipped him in the calf. The woman walking the dog gave the boy’s mother the dog’s collar, with its rabies tags, as well as her phone number. The collar identified the dog as Scooby. Police visited the woman and dog, which the officer said appeared friendly. Police filled out a dog bite form for Kane County.
