MONDAY, JUNE 17, 2013


Cannabis, Paraphernalia Possession


Beau Richard Sanders, 18, of the 700 block of Van Buren Avenue, was arrested at 12:18 a.m. in the 1000 block of Wing Avenue with possession of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released with a notice to appear in court July 18, 2013.

Hit and Run: Car vs. Building


Luciano Garcia, 28, of the 100 block of Walnut Drive, was charged at 5:09 a.m. with failure to report a property damage accident, improper lane use and no driver’s license. Police responding to a 3:39 a.m. report of a car striking a building on the 100 block of Walnut Drive followed a trail of fluid from the accident scene to Garcia’s vehicle. He posted $150 cash bond and was released pending a July 18, 2013 court appearance.

Man Accused of Punching Woman


Timothy Scott Butorac, 35, of the 800 block of South 5th Avenue, was charged at 12:26 a.m. with battery after a 26-year-old woman told police he punched her in the eye after she and Butorac’s girlfriend drove him home from a bar. Butorac’s mother posted an unspecified bond, and he was released pending a July 25, 2013 court appearance.


Two Charged with Retail Theft


Curtis D. Cathey, 19, of the 700 block of Walnut Street, and Zachary Tyler Duncan, 18, homeless, were each charged at 10:55 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., respectively, at Jewell-West, 2073 Prairie St., with retail theft. According to the report, the two took a sandwich, two bottles of soda and two bottles of cough syrup without paying for them. The value of the items was reported as $39.97. They were released on their own recognizance pending an Aug. 1, 2013 court appearance.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol


Laura Noel Murphy, 44, of the 100 block of St. Germaine Place, was charged at 11:40 p.m. in the 700 block of West Main Street with driving under the influence of alcohol, and speeding, 50 in a 30 mph zone. She was released on her own recognizance pending a July 18, 2013 court appearance.


Graffiti at Eastside Sports Complex


The St. Charles Park District, 8 North Ave., reported at 9:06 p.m. that someone had tagged a bathroom at the Eastside Sports Complex, 3565 Legacy Blvd., with graffiti. Damage was estimated at less than $300.


Teen Reports Fraud Attempt


A 19-year-old resident who was looking for a job on craigslist, an online classified advertising site, told police he believed he was being targeted by an online scam after contacting one company, which listed itself as Amerisource Bergen, which sent him a $2,350 check, directed him to make several purchases and then make a wire transfer with the money. The young man took the check to a bank, which believed the check was fraudulent. That’s when he contacted police.


Vicodin, Part of Lunch Stolen


A 54-year-old Westmont man reported to police at 6:34 p.m. that while he was at the Baker Community Center, 101 S. 2nd St., he encountered an unfamiliar man in the kitchen microwaving a dinner. The man did not respond when asked what he was doing there, so the victim took his lunchbox and went to his office, where he discovered that his prescription bottle for Vicodin, some gum, a snack and mints had been removed from his lunchbox. The pills were valued at $10.


Leaving the Scene of Accident


Terry Scott Pertell, 48, of the 500 block of Middle Street, South Elgin, was charged at 2:16 p.m. at the St. Charles Police Department, 211 N. Riverside Drive, with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. According to police, officers were dispatched to a suspicious incident report in which a pickup truck swerved off the road and into a ditch and into a side yard at 602 Fox Glen Drive. The driver was seen exiting the vehicle and walking away. Police found the vehicle resting on several pine trees.  Pertell turned up at the police station. He was released on his own recognizance pending a July 11, 2013 court appearance.


Cannabis, Paraphernalia Possession


Mark Wayne Richards, 19, of the 1400 block of Dean Street, was charged at 2:34 a.m. in the 100 block of South 1st Street with possession of less than 30 grams of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on his own recognizance pending a July 18, 2013 appearance in court.

Registration Stickers Stolen


A 49-year-old Batavia woman reported at 7:13 p.m. that someone had removed registration stickers from two vehicles while they were parked in the lot of her repair shop at 1830 Wallace Ave.


Mud Thrown at Home


A 47-year-old resident of the 500 block of South 11th Avenue reported at 8:57 p.m. that someone had thrown mud at her window and house. No damage was reported.


WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12, 2013


Car Tire vs. Cantalope-Size Rock on East Main


A Batavia man reported at 3:53 p.m. that he was eastbound on the 1500 block of East Main Street when the front left tire of his car struck a cantalope-size rock, causing the sidewall of the tire to burst. The man wanted a police report to take to the Illinois Department of Transportation for possible reimbursement.


DUI


Andrew R. Pedersen, 24, of the 900 block of Stanton Street, Batavia, was charged at 9:44 p.m. in the 200 block of South 3rd Avenue with DUI, and improper lane use. He posted his driver’s license and $300 cash bond and was released pending a July 18, 2013 court appearance.

Cannabis, Paraphernalia


Charlotte Marelene Scheffler, 24, of the 33W200 block of Bonnie Street, was charged at 10:31 p.m. at 1400 W. Main St., with possession of cannabis-less than 2.5 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police stopped the vehicle after seeing it driving without headlights on West Main Street. She was released on her own recognizance pending a July 11, 2013 court appearance.


Criminal Property Damage


The St. Charles Park District, 8 North Ave., reported at 4:19 p.m. that someone had broken off the middle finger of the “Padre Pio” sculpture displayed at Mt. St. Mary Park, 610 S. 1st St.

Three Face Cannabis Charges


Three young adults were cited with possession of cannabis at 10 p.m.  in the area of 11th Avenue and Wing Avenue. According to police, the three are Nora K. Byington, 18, of the 800 block of Persimmon Court; Jessica C. Krantz, 20, of the 7N000-099 block of Plymouth Court; and Sonia E. Elsherif, 19, of the 32W900 block of Honey Hill Circle.


Retail Theft


Stephanie Dee Eggum, 32, of the 10N500 block of Williamsburg Drive, Elgin, was cited at 6:49 p.m. at SuperTarget, 3885 E. Main St., with retail theft. Further details were not immediately available. She was released with an order to appear in court on July 18, 2013.

Public Drunkenness


Bill W. Hayes, 29, of the 00-99 block of North 15th Street, was cited at 1:30 a.m. at 99 N. 12th St., with two counts of disorderly conduct-public drunkenness. Further details were not immediately available.


Violation of a Protection Order


Frank G. Demichel, 38, of the 100 block of Hingham Lane, Bloomingdale, was charged at 12:26 p.m. at the St. Charles Police Department, 211 N. Riverside Drive, with violation and order of protection. Further details were not immediately available. He was held in jail pending a court appearance.
