Watch St. Charles East Win Supersectional, Headed to State Semifinals

The Saints defeated Downers Grove South 6-3 to win the supersectional and secure a berth in the IHSA Class 4A softball semifinals on Friday.

The St. Charles East Saints defeated Downers Grove South 6-3 on the softball diamond Monday afternoon for their 30th win of the season and the title of the IHSA Class 4A supersectional, as witnessed by a live stream on High School Cube.

The win at Bandits Stadium in Rosemont secured the Saints a berth in  state semifinals action on Friday.

The Saints scored four of their runs in the top of the third inning, then brought in the final two runs in the top of the seventh. East's Katie Kolb was three for four, and was credited with three RBIs and a run.

Downers Grove South managed to bring in two runs in the sixth inning, and then brought in a third in the bottom of the seventh.

St. Charles East plays next at 3 p.m. Friday in the East Side Center in East Peoria, where the Saints will take on Barrington.
