St. Charles Weekend Planner: Martial Arts, Fall Planters and Entertainment

A look at what's ahead in the St. Charles area this weekend.

If you are looking for things to do, St. Charles is the place to be this weekend.


There will be live entertainment downtown again on Friday evening, thanks to the Downtown St. Charles Partnership’s STC Live! program on First Street Plaza.


Saturday’s agenda starts early with auditions for a play, a martial arts open house, and a fall planter demonstration. In the afternoon, there’s a bags tournament and much more. and an artist reception, topped off by a Johnny Lang concert in the evening at The Arcada Theatre.

Sunday also has some prime opportunities to enjoy the day, with a second day of martial arts and planter demonstrations, topped off by a concert in Geneva.

Friday


  • 5 to 7 p.m. — St. Charles North Girls Volleyball Clinic: The St. Charles North Girl's Volleyball team will host its annual clinic for all boys and girls in grades 4 through 8. At the St. Charles North Gymnasium.

  • 6 to 8 p.m. — STC Live! returns to First Street Plaza, hosting The Blu Oaks.


Saturday


  • 10 a.m. to noon — Legend of Sleepy Hollow Auditions: MyStage invites youth grades 6 and up to participate in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, a dinner theatre show served up in time for Halloween. Auditions are at 3800 E. Main St. #B106, St Charles.

  • 10 a.m. — Budokan Annual Martial Arts Weekend Open House: Annual Martial Arts Weekend open house celebration featuring free classes and informative seminars that led by Budokan staff, visiting masters and professional martial arts instructors from around the country. At 959 N La Fox St, South Elgin.

  • 10 a.m. — Heinz Brothers Greenhouse Fall Planter Demonstrations: Heinz Brothers staff will show you more than just mums to plant this fall. 2010 E. Main St, St Charles.

  • 10:30 a.m. — Love Letters to Yourself: The women ’s empowerment project will be creating a mural on self love at the Free Speech Pavilion located on the Naperville Riverwalk at Jackson and Webster.

  • 3 p.m. — United Fall Fest Bags Tournament: Regulation, tournament-quality boxes and bags, this tournament welcomes players at all skill levels. At 40W451 Fox Mill Blvd., Campton Hills.

  • 4 to 6 p.m. — Artist Reception for Carol Zack: Meet Carol Zack and learn about her approach to painting during the artist reception at Wasco Nursery & Garden Center 41W781 Route 64, St Charles.

  • 8 p.m. — Johnny Lang at The Arcada: Prices vary. The Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St.
